Potential Solutions

Qatar Mobility Innovations Center (QMIC) is keen to play a pivotal role in enhancing Road Safety in Qatar through innovative Driver Anti-Distraction solutions.

There is no one solution to reduce road tragedies, rather an integrated approach towards enhancing Road Safety and eliminating Distracted Drivers. This includes specific components that will each play a role, and together will create a seamless solution towards safer roads and safer drivers.

The components that can collectively work together towards a seamless solution are:

  • Staying informed. Keeping drivers informed about road conditions and the dangers of Distracted Driving through training, technology, innovations, and so on, is the first step towards safer driving. QMIC has created apps & services that keep drivers informed about traffic congestion and incidents, allowing them to anticipate what’s ahead on their journey. • Enabling Driver Anti-Distraction. Distracted Drivers are the leading cause of road accidents, making driver anti-distraction solutions the hot topic of Road Safety today. QMIC’s Salamtek is a mobile application supporting Driver Anti-Distraction, which can be used from any country in the world. To learn more, click here.
  • Enhancing Driver Behavior. It would be much easier to enhance driver behavior if we can point out the problems. QMIC has developed a “Driver Behavior” service allowing consumers and companies to keep track of driving habits on a current and historical basis. To learn more, click here.
  • Futuristic Innovations. Technologies such as Self Driving Cars and Connected Vehicles help delegate some of the driver’s responsibilities to the vehicles and/or provide timely alerts. These new technologies reduce the possibilities of human error and complement the Salamtek initiative by managing drivers’ safety. QMIC has launched a national Connected Vehicles initiative and is working on a national pilot system. QMIC will also be introducing a new driving ranking/assessment system that can enable the delivery of new Pay-How-You-Drive insurance plans. Monitoring a driver’s behavior on the road can do this. To learn more, click here.
